SACNAS

September 29, 2005 through October 2, 2005

The mission of SACNAS (Society for Advancement of Chicanos and Native Americans in Science) is to encourage Chicano/Latino and Native American students to pursue graduate education and obtain the advanced degrees necessary for science research, leadership, and teaching careers at all levels.

This year’s conference theme, Science for America’s Future, explores the contemporary status and role of Chicano/Latinos and Native Americans in science, technology, engineering and mathematics and advances new agendas for greater diversity in America’s scientific fields. SACNAS continues its tradition of working to increase Native American and Chicano/Latino presence in the scientific community. The SACNAS Conference offers a national forum for investigation of questions related to the theme and the development of a new generation of leaders who will be instrumental in shaping future directions and applications of scientific research.
